The Albanian government approved the decision to temporarily offer shelter to the Afghan citizens fleeing the Taliban because they worked with the western forces against their regime.
Another verdict passed today was the one pertaining to the creation of a Task-Force that will deal with the management of the influx of Afghan refugees – that will be led by the minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhacka, including other colleagues from the Rama administration:
Minister of Internal Affairs
Minister of Defense
Minister of Finances and the Economy
Minister of Education, Sports and Youth
Minister of Health and Social Protection
Minister of Tourism and the Environment
The time period during which this Task Force will be operating, will last until the conclusion of the process protecting the international human rights of these Afghan refugees.
The Afghan refugees will be protected in our country for 1 year, according to the preliminary decision made by the Albanian government.
In a previous interview for foreign medias, PM Rama has declared that around 3.000 Afghans are expected to take shelter in our country.
The first group of Afghan refugees coming to our country is going to be housed in the city of Berat.
