Albania has taken steps backward when it comes to the quality of the justice system, based on the 2020 World Index on the Rule of Law published by World Justice Project, an American-based international civil society organization focused on research in the field of law.

The 2020 World Index encompassing 128 countries ranked Albania 78, on the quality of the justice system, dipping four places below from 2019.

Overall, Albania scored 0.5 points, marking a decline by 0.01 from last year.

Albania ranked the worst in the region, while Kosovo’s justice system ranked the best.

Moreover, Albania received very few points in tackling corruption, 100 out of 128 countries, and also received a low score on the services it provides in the justice field.

Albania got the highest score in the field of order and public security (36 out of 128), as well as in human rights (54 out of 128).
