Minister of Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, spoke as the chairman of the Open Debate at the UN Security Council in New York.
Hasani announced “the creation of the Private Sector Humanitarian Alliance, as a coordinating body to respond to humanitarian crises that will serve as a unique entry point for the private sector in the humanitarian architecture, including the UN.”
“Through the Alliance, we intend to engage corporations and philanthropies, together with key UN agencies and civil society, to record and collect all impressions and comments on key gaps and areas for improvement in crisis response, exploring mechanisms potential to formalize the role of corporations and philanthropies in the crisis responding ecosystem, improve resource utilization, and enhance response efforts. It is a first step, but we believe, a bold one to show the expertise of the public sector in dealing with complex crises and to create more comprehensive, flexible and effective solutions to properly respond to the growing needs”, said Hasani.
