As part of the Sustainability Week in Abu Dhabi, the leaders of the governments in Albania, Italy and the United Arab Emirates have signed a document on the energy connection between Albania and Italy.

The agreement aims to build the infrastructure for the transport of renewable energy from Albania to Italy, through an underwater cable in the Adriatic Sea. The project develops not only the energy connection between the two shores of the Adriatic, but also paves the way for a deeper cooperation between Italy, Albania and the United Arab Emirates in the green energy sector.

The agreement was signed by the deputy prime minister and the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku.

During his speech at the Summit, the Prime Minister said that the agreement will serve to increase Albania’s capacity as a key player in the region, based on its 100% renewable energy production.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni, President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, as well as representatives of the governments of the respective countries.
