Starting from May 1, border checkpoints between Albania and Kosovo will no longer conduct controls. The agreement aimed at facilitating border procedures for vehicles with license plates from both countries has been reactivated to allow for fast and unrestricted movement.

Under this agreement, Albanian and Kosovar citizens will cross through the Morina and Vërmica border points with expedited procedures for nine months of the year and during holiday weekends.

The free movement policy, introduced last year, proved effective in reducing traffic and easing border transit during the summer season.

It was deemed necessary due to the high influx of travelers from Kosovo who typically visit Albania for summer holidays.

This year, the relaxed procedures will again apply for nine months — specifically from May 1 to September 30, and from November 1 to February 28 of the following year.
During this period, there will be no passport or ID checks for citizens of either country.
