Albania has assumed the chairmanship of the Interreg Europe Monitoring Committee, one of the European Union’s most important mechanisms for interregional cooperation.
For the first time, Albania has taken the lead of the program’s Monitoring Committee, becoming the first EU candidate country to hold this role—just two years after joining the program.
Since July 1 of this year, the chairmanship has been held by the State Agency for Strategic Programming and Aid Coordination (SASPAC), with the mandate lasting until December 2025.
During this period, Albania will host key meetings, including the upcoming Committee gathering in Tirana this December, which will bring together representatives from 36 countries.
