The Ministry of Tourism and Environment and ITB Berlin, the world’s largest tourism trade fair, have come to an agreement designating Albania as the honored country for ITB Berlin 2025.

In a memorandum of understanding signed in Germany by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment Vilma Bello and the Executive Director of ITB Berlin, Deborah Rothe, Albania will officially hold the honorary position for the most significant global tourism fair in 2025.

In an earlier announcement in July, Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro spoke about Albania’s ambition and the commencement of discussions with the German side to secure this agreement, positioning the country at the epicenter of the world’s most important tourism event and tour operators, a yearly event held in Berlin.

The signing of this agreement seeks to reinforce Albania’s role not only as a participant but as an active organizer of high-level agendas for significant global events like ITB Berlin, which serves as an international platform for promoting Albania.

The promotional program will kick off in March 2024 and wrap up in March 2025.

Recent statistics reveal that until October, Albania had welcomed nine million foreign tourists. Additionally, Albania remains in third place in the World Tourism Barometer, a publication by the World Tourism Organization, concerning the increase in foreign tourist arrivals.

For the year 2024, Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro has announced that Albania will participate in the FITUR tourism trade fair in Madrid, ITB Berlin, and will also host the 70th meeting of the Commission for Europe of the World Tourism Organization in Tirana during the spring. This gathering will include the participation of 40 European tourism ministers.
