Albania has earned the top spot in Europe for the surge in flight numbers during the week of October 16-22, according to data released by the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol).

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama proudly declared that October witnessed an unprecedented tourism boom.

Furthermore, Rama highlighted that “Mother Teresa” Airport continues to hold the lead in the European Air Traffic Management Agency’s ranking due to the remarkable increase in the number of passengers.

Official statistics from the Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) reveal that during the period from January to September, the country saw a total of 8.3 million foreign citizens entering its borders.

This figure represents a 29% surge when compared to the same period in the previous year.

Tirana International Airport has also experienced substantial growth, handling over 5.4 million passengers from January 1 to the beginning of October this year. This marks an impressive 37% increase compared to the passenger numbers in 2022.
