Global temperatures are rising much faster than scientists had predicted. The Regional Ambassador of the Climate Summit for Europe said in an interview for Euronews Albania that carbon emissions must be halved by 2030.
“Albania is particularly threatened by climate change. You’ve witnessed the dramatic draught of the recent times, and as I said, scientists say that things are going to get worse in the future if we don’t act now”, warned David Moran.
Davin Moran tells us that major climate changes must be prevented by switching to clean and renewable energy, and according to him, Albania has all the capacity to do that.
“You need to become more attractive to move on to green energy. There is actually some activity in this area and you have hydropower, but there are many sectors where businesses will be more inclined to invest, because coal is becoming more expensive, compared to renewable energy, so it makes sense to go through the change and I am optimistic that we will see some progress”, he said.
The Climate Summit due in November in the UK is an initiative to accelerate the actions that all countries need to slow down climate change.
