Sam Altman, CEO and co-founder of OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, was fired from his position. Just one day after Altman gave a speech at the APEC summit, the company’s board ruled that “he has been consistently dishonest in his communications with the board, which has hindered his ability to exercise his responsibilities. The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue as head of OpenAI.”
Chief Technology Officer, Mira Murati has been appointed interim Executive Director.
Altman responded by saying he was happy “to work with such talented people,” not commenting on the reason for the firing, adding only “There will be more to say about what happens later.”
ChatGPT was launched by OpenAI nearly a year ago and quickly went viral, drawing top-level attention to the capabilities and future of artificial intelligence and humanity.
Now the company will be managed by the Albanian born in Vlora, Mira Murati, who has also been the main image of OpenAI in the international media and in forums alongside the main personalities of the world’s technology.
