Ermonela Jaho received the main prize at “The Oper! Awards 2024” in Germany, for her extraordinary performance.
“It is already known that a career in opera requires more than just a beautiful voice. It is also rare for an artist to reveal his inner self to the audience through singing and acting simultaneously. In Zurich, in 2023, Puccini’s ‘La rondine’ turned into a touching and exciting night with an unprecedented depth, thanks to Ermonela Jaho, who was a brilliant Magda: a nightingale who sings strongly and tenderly in agony at the same time,” was the motivation for the award given on Monday evening.
The Albanian soprano, through a post on social networks, expressed that just as the award she received in Spain, so too the German award was a surprise.
“I would try to express with words the gratitude and what this achievement means to me, but it would be impossible. I feel proud of the ranking among the candidates, let alone for winning as the ‘Best Singer for 2024’. Thank you Oper! Awards for this great honor,” wrote Ermonela Jaho.
Earlier, Ermonela also won the award for “Best Foreign Artist” for the year 2023, for her performance in “Suor Angelica” in Barcelona.
