The State Police has received 196 new vehicles accorded by IPA funds from the European Union, an investment worth 8.1 million euros, of which 4.8 million euros were provided by the EU whereas 3.3 million euros by the state.
During the ceremony, attended also by Prime Minister Edi Rama and EU Ambassador to Albania Luigi Soreca, Interior Minister Sandër Lleshaj said that the investment will increase the efficiency of the State Police, despite the country having a relatively low number of police officers.
Minister Lleshaj added that the new equipment will also serve to motivate the police officers as well as “improve the image of the State Police”.

EU Ambassador Luigi Soreca stated that with such an investment, the whole efficacy of the police can be transformed. “This fleet will allow the Albanian Police to ensure security of Albania’s citizens, while fully respecting and protecting their fundamental rights””, declared the Ambassador.
