A 40-year-old surgeon originally from Albania was sentenced by the Court of Monza in Italy. He is charged with sexual harassment and was sentenced to 20 months in prison.

The Albanian with the initials G.R was tried for the incident that happened in 2019, when a girl was accompanying her boyfriend to the emergency room. The incident happened at the “Zucchi” clinic where the doctor was working at the time.

According to the Monza prosecutor, the girl had accompanied her boyfriend to the emergency room, who had a sore throat. While waiting, the young woman had asked the doctor where she could go to smoke, and he had accompanied her to a room, where he had touched her navel while talking.

The young woman told the episode to her boyfriend and, before leaving the emergency room, they went to the doctor, insulting him and recording the conversation in which he denied the harassment. The denunciation was made by the young woman, who did not participate in a civil process for the compensation of the damage, but confirmed the accusations in the trial.

The accused claimed that smoking was not allowed inside the clinic and the girl was caught doing so and asked to leave.
