On the occasion of Albanian national holidays, the Embassy of Albania in France, Ambassador Dritan Tola, and the Permanent Delegate Ambassador of Albania to UNESCO, Besiana Kadare, organized a cinematographic evening and a reception for all friends of Albania in France.

The evening began with the screening of the restored film “A Tale from the Past” (“Përrallë nga e kaluara”) by the great Albanian director Dhimitër Anagnosti, followed by the showing of the short film “A Short Trip” by the young Albanian director Erenik Beqiri, which is also Albania’s official submission for the Oscars.

The presentation of both classical and modern Albanian cinema was a delightful invitation for the guests to get to know, appreciate, and support Albanian art in all its dimensions.

These appreciations were also expressed through welcoming words from the Ambassador of Albania in France, Dritan Tola, the Cultural Advisor to Prime Minister Rama, Simonetta Dellomonaco, and the director Erenik Beqiri.

The film screening was realized in collaboration with the Central State Film Archive.

The film “A Tale from the Past”, directed by Dhimitër Anagnosti and produced in 1987 in Albania, was previously selected to be part of the Treasures & Curiosities section of the classic film festival “Festival Lumiere” in Lyon in October of this year.

“A Tale from the Past” is based on several motifs from the work of Andon Zako Çajupi, “14-year-old Groom”, and the screenplay was later developed as an original creation by Dhimitër Anagnosti.
