Democratic Party MP, Enkelejd Alibeaj, said in a statement to the media that the amnesty will not be accepted by the Democratic Party without meeting the two conditions proposed by it.
He said that an amnesty that also includes those convicted by GJKKO (Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime), or those investigated by SPAK (Prosecutor’s Office), will not have the votes of DP while adding that if the minister says that he will secure votes, this means he will buy this votes.
According to Alibeaj, this is declaring war on justice.
“Our two conditions for criminal amnesty are: First, convicted persons or persons under investigation by SPAK and GJKKO should not be included in the amnesty. And the second, to benefit from the amnesty for all citizens who have protested for their causes”.
Alibeaj also said in the statement to the media that they are ready to vote for the initial version of the amnesty accepted by the justice bodies.
“We are ready to vote for the amnesty of the initial version brought by the government. I publicly asked Minister Ulsi Manja if he had discussed the initial draft law with the new Justice Institutions, I received a positive answer. So the draft law had received the green light from SPAK, GJKKO, KLGJ (The Supreme Judicial Council). And secondly, do not introduce sneaky amendments at the last moment that are not in the public interest of this amnesty.
We have no negotiations with the government. Our positions are public, we vote on the initial amnesty proposal and our proposal is taken into account so that the amnesty benefits the protesters. We vote for these. We do not vote on a draft law that amnesties those convicted by GJKKO or persons who are under investigation by SPAK”, said Enkelejd Alibeaj.
