These are today’s headline.

The police have filed charges against 16 opposition MPs and 200 citizens following yesterday’s protest. They are accused of blocking the circulation of vehicles, as the protest took place in six locations around the country, blocking arterial roads and roundabouts. The three hour protest was the second of its kind in recent weeks, against the current government and centered on the imprisonment of key opposition figures and including claims of corruption.

The annual report of the European Commission states that Albania has progressed with its justice reform, but the Parliament does not function correctly due to ongoing conflicts and and the expulsion of deputies. Regarding the electoral reform, the EC states that the recommendations of the OSCE for the elections have not so far been taken into account, with general elections just six months away.

The Foreign Ministry of Greece has reacted to the attack on Fredi Beleri, ethnic Greek Albanian MEP and former mayor of Himara who visited Tirana yesterday as part of a European Parliament delegation. Beleri, previously imprisoned for vote buying in albanias local elections was pelted with eggs and water on Tuesday. Greece asked albania to guarantee the safety of European parliamentarians.

A Belgian court has sentenced 100 people for drug trafficking, including some Albanian citizens. Investigations began after authorities broke down traffickers’ communications on the encrypted ‘Sky ECC app.

The Albanian government had announced the restoration of the armies reserve forces. Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, stated that this force will consist of former soldiers who have left the service. The cost of implementing this law for the first year will be 15 million euros.
