The Bank of Albania has asked the government to review the pension scheme proposed in the 2025 budget. In an opinion given in the Parliamentary Committee of the Economy, representatives of the Bank stated that the suggested scheme is unsustainable due to mass emigration of the labour force combined with an ageing population. They called for the government to review their proposals.

The European Commission has estimated Albania’s economic growth to reach 3.6% over the next years. This drop of point two percentage points from a forecast earlier this year is due to a decrease in employment combined with a high rate of emigration.

According to a report by the World Health Organization, Albania ranks first in Europe in terms of the emotional support that parents give to their teenage children. The WHO study was conducted with children aged 11 to 15 in Europe. Up to 92% of Albanian teenagers said they felt supported by their parents compared to 37 in Denmark and above the average of 76%.

In the city of Vlora, heavy rains have flooded the streets in some areas of the city. A month ago, about 350 homes were damaged by floods. Residents say that the institutions are yet to take any remedial or preventative measures.
