Former Italian Prime Minister and Senator Matteo Renzi visited the Gjadri camp on Wednesday to take a closer look at the migrant center. In an exclusive interview with Euronews Albania, he said that the centres built in Albania should be used to transfer Albanian prisoners held in Italy.
After leaving on January 20 due to the cutting of funding by the US State Department, American experts have officially returned to the Special Prosecution Office in Tirana. Specifically, they include a prosecutor, US law enforcement experts, and FBI representatives, who assist the justice structures in Albania with training and legal expertise.
Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that the minimum wage in Albania will be 500 euros a month. In response to commentators on social networks, Rama said that the decision is expected to be made in June, while it will enter into force in January 2026. Currently, the minimum wage is 400 euros.
The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, presented the opposition’s program for business today. He declared that he would abolish the progressive tax, which is paid based on income, and would impose a flat tax of 10%. He also promised to reduce social security obligations and construction taxes in order to reduce housing prices.
