Journalist Genc Burimi says that the Americans no longer want Prime Minister Edi Rama to stay in power.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Burimi said that Americans are worried about the fact that Rama is supported by the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, but he also underlined fiscal amnesty as an important concern.
According to him, as alternatives, they see the group that supports the former chief democrat, Lulzim Basha.
“It is quite clear today that the Americans wanted neither Meta, nor Basha, nor Berisha to come to power. At this moment, we are talking in vain, neither the voting process nor the justice process works in Albania. Now they no longer like Rama because today Rama has received extraordinary power, especially from Erdogan. Rama has gone out of control today, especially with the story of fiscal amnesty. But Americans – who do they have today as an alternative in Albania? They have Basha’s group”, he argued.
