Prosecutor Elvin Gokaj has become the second candidate to express interest by submitting his platform for the position of Head of SPAK (Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime).
According to the decision of the High Prosecutorial Council (KLP), the deadline for expressing interest and submitting platforms is Wednesday, October 8.
After the deadline closes, the KLP will have two months to review the applications, conduct public interviews, and make the final decision through voting.
Gokaj has investigated several major cases, mainly related to abuse of tenders and public funds, which have led to indictments of high-ranking officials — among them former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, in connection with the “Bread” case.
According to Euronews Albania sources, up to three more prosecutors are expected to apply by tomorrow’s deadline.
