Klodian Kapidani, the 39-year-old arrested by Special Anti-Corruption Structure for active corruption in elections.

Official sources from the special prosecutor’s office told Euronews Albania that the investigation into him was initiated mainly on his own initiative.

Kapidani was kept under surveillance a few days before the local elections on May 14 and also on the day of the vote, as SACS had created suspicions from the interceptions of another criminal proceeding, that this citizen was promising and offering monetary sums in order to participate in the voting, to ensure participation, as well as to determine the voting method.

According to the sources, Kapidani supported the candidate of the “Together We Win” coalition, Fisnik Qosja, who was declared the winner against the former mayor and socialist candidate Redjan Krali. It is not known the amount of money that Kapidani offered for the votes, as it appears from the wiretapping that physical meetings were scheduled with the citizens.
