Archives release documents revealing the amount of gold King Zog took with him

The General Directorate of Archives has published two documents that show that the amount of gold that King Zog took with him when he left Albania in 1939 is many times greater than what was known until now.

According to the Archives, this new historical fact is expected to arouse many debates, as the document was extracted from the fund of the fascist militia and comes in the form of a report.

In the document signed by Gjon Lusha, it is stated that on April 8, 1939, King Zog crossed the border with Greece, and during the inspection, the following was found: 250,000 napoleons of King Zog’s gold; 60,000 of Abdurrahman Mati; 40,000 of the General and 40,000 of Minister Musa Juka.

“The gold that King Zog took with him and the new document is expected to arouse a lot of debate! The state archive published today for the first time a new testimony about the amount of gold taken by King Zog during his departure from Albania. According to the document that was written and signed by Gjon Lusha, he claims that the amount of Gold that King Zog and his companions took with them while leaving Albania for Greece in April 1939, is many times greater than what was known to date. The document was extracted from the Fascist militia fund and comes in the form of a report as follows”, the announcement states.
