General Director of the Police Supervision Agency (AMP), Ardi Veliu, submitted his resignation to the Minister of the Interior this Monday.
Through an official announcement, the Ministry of the Interior informs that the Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla thanked Veliu for the work done so far at the head of the AMP, the results achieved within the process of self-cleaning of the structures of the State Police, Guard of the Republic, Fire Protection and Rescue Service.
The Police Supervision Agency, from January 1 until today, has referred 207 cases to 295 subjects, including 253 police officers and 42 citizens, to the Special Anti-Corruption Structure and General Jurisdiction Prosecutors.
“In this period, 23 officers were arrested in the act. With security measures, there are 72 cases, among them, 61 police officers and 11 citizens. In the measure “Arrest in prison” there are 24 cases, among them, 18 police officers and 6 citizens. With the measure “House arrest” there are 6 police officers and 1 citizen, with the measure “Suspension of the exercise of duty in public service” there are 34 police officers. Also, 24 administrative disciplinary measures were given, after AMP disciplinary investigations, among them, 4 officers with disciplinary measure “Exclusion from the police”; 3 officers “Postponement of promotion deadline” for two years; for 5 police officers “Postponement of the promotion deadline” for one year, as well as for 9 officers “Postponement of the promotion deadline” for nine months” – announces AMP.
Also, AMP has given a recommendation to the National Agency of Classified Information for the removal of the Security Certificate for 19 subjects.
Veliu was appointed head of AMP in September 2022, a position he held until today.
Dritan Dorda, Deputy General Director of AMP, will be the head of the Agency until the end of the election of the new leader. It is known that Ardi Veliu will continue to give his contribution in another state duty.
