Despite the fact that the majority of votes in the elections of Presheva was won by the party of the former Chairman of the Commune’s Municipality, Shqiprim Arifi, he wasn’t able to secure the necessary support in order to regain the leadership of the commune of Presheva.

The Alliance of the majority of parties that secured their spot in the communal council, elected the leader of the commune, Ardita Sinani from the Party for Democratic Action. Ragmi Mustafa from the Democratic Party was chosen, deputy mayor.

Through a status on his Facebook account, the former Chairman of the municipal assembly of Presheva, Shqiprim Arifi has thanked everyone that voted during the local elections in this commune.

According to Arifi the one responsible for this is the electoral system while adding that he will soon be back.

“It was a total of 3 years of governing as the Mayor of the Commune of Presheva, it was a special honor for me, to serve the citizens of the Commune of Presheva. We have finished many projects, and have started a lot more work for the good of our country. Always and forever, I feel proud of Presheva,” writes Arifi.

He also threw jabs at the new Mayor, Ardita Sinani, who was voted by only 3 thousand people in Preshava, whereas over 15 thousand citizens voted differently.

The new Mayor of the Commune of Presheva, Ardita Sinani has declared that she won her mandate on the basis of the law, out of the 22 mandated votes in parliament, something which is translated to 11 thousand votes.

She stated that the former mayor Shqiprim Arifi has degraded everything in this commune.
