The nationwide protest called by organizations emerging from the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) war, which will be held this Friday in Tirana, is gaining increasing public support.
Endrit Thaçi, the son of former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi, reacted on social media by sharing the call to participate in the protest.

“Are you ready?” he wrote in an Instagram post, encouraging citizens from all Albanian-inhabited areas to join the rally demanding justice for the former KLA leaders who are being held in detention in The Hague.

A clear and determined stance has also been expressed by “Dardanët”, the fan group of Kosovo’s national football team. In a public statement, they emphasized that the October 17 protest is a call for justice not only for the former KLA leaders but for all those who fought for freedom.

“We want justice, not a false equality with the chauvinist Serbian criminals. United in defense of our shared values, we send a powerful message from the Albanian capital that the KLA did not commit war crimes. The address of the crimes lies only in notorious Belgrade,” their statement reads.

The protest will be held at Skënderbej Square at 5:00 p.m. Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama, former President Alfred Moisiu, and the leader of Albanians in North Macedonia, Ali Ahmeti, are expected to attend.
Organizers expect massive participation from all Albanian territories, as an act of solidarity with those considered key figures in Kosovo’s liberation war.
