“The Socialist Party serves its voters, not those voted in”. This was the reaction of the prime minister of Albania, Edi Rama, after the news of the arrest of the mayor of Lushnje, Fatos Tushe, who is being accused of corruption.
Through a post shared on his social media account, the Head of State, simultaneously Chair of the Socialist party, said the following: “the mayor of Lushnje and whosoever else is accused by the justice system, in this case and in any other case, won’t have any protection from the Socialist Party and should answer before the law by themselves, with their attorneys and their own mouths”.
“Every voter should understand that our loyalty is only to them, and doesn’t depend on any individual, but it is rather a battle flag of SP to make Albania a better place in the future and every candidate that is voted in, should understand that SP’s flag can never be anyone’s cover and protect anyone’s mistakes or self-interest,” concluded Rama in his statement, which came immediately after the news of the arrest of Lushnje’s mayor.
