“Paradis Artificiel” – “Artificial Paradise” is the latest exhibition at the Tirana Art Gallery, presented by the artist couple Flutura Preka and Besnik Haxhillari, also known as The Two Gullivers.

Through drawing and painting, the artists revisit scenes and emotions from their performative work, often incorporating artificial flowers that, in their visual treatment, appear natural and vibrant.

“We’ve tried to maintain a very modest pencil technique, which is our artistic homage. Drawing is a technique we constantly use and refine. We live in Canada and miss colors. We titled the exhibition ‘Paradise’ because, no matter what, color brings us joy—it becomes a kind of therapy. Sometimes, we create a project simply because we need it spiritually,” says artist Flutura Preka.

The exhibition also includes drawings of natural flowers, offering a reflection on the experience of a beautiful yet unreachable and deeply artificial paradise.

“This exhibition is also a call to people and the public to be drawn toward beauty. For the first time, we managed to gather around 60 works in one exhibition. Besides being a concept, it’s a universe of flowers and a painting practice that reveals the beauty found in nature,” says artist Besnik Haxhillari.

At the core of The Two Gullivers’ work lies the idea of travel, migration, and identity, treating art as an open and interactive dialogue with the audience.

“Artificial Paradise” is an invitation to reflect on the real and the constructed, on memory and artistic presence, and on the tension between nature and artifice.
