Assembly notifies CEC about Ervin Salianji’s mandate

The Assembly has notified the CEC, through an official letter, regarding the mandate of MP Ervin Salianji.

The latter was sentenced to one year in prison by the appeals court for giving false testimony regarding the “Babale” case.

The Assembly has notified the Central Elections Commission about the creation of the deputy’s vacancy.

“The Assembly of Albania, based on the letter “dh” of point 2 of Article 71 of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania and the Rules of the Assembly, informs you that the mandate of DP deputy Ervin Salianji will expire before the deadline, due to his conviction by final decision for committing a criminal offense, announced in the plenary session of 30.9.2024.

As for above, in support of article 164, point 1, of law no. 10019, dated 29.12.2008 “Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania”, the Assembly of Albania has the legal obligation to notify the Central Election Commission about the creation of a vacancy”, the sent document states.
