The operation to demolish illegal constructions in Theth has entered its seventh day, with the National Inspectorate of Territorial Protection (IKMT) bulldozers, supported by law enforcement, continuing to tear down structures. So far, around 70 illegal buildings have been demolished, and the operation is expected to continue in the coming days.

The situation on the ground remains calm for now, but tensions are still present. In front of the Theth Church, a symbol of the area, the “Assembly of Men” was held—a traditional gathering focused on discussing the operation and its consequences for local residents.

The residents of Theth are concerned about the future of their guesthouses and are calling on the government to halt the operation and provide a solution to legalize their buildings as part of a broader plan for the development of mountain tourism. They are requesting more information and the opportunity to be included in this initiative.

The priest of Theth has issued a call for dialogue between the authorities and the residents, emphasizing the importance of maintaining harmony and cooperation to find a sustainable solution.

Likewise, the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Shkodra has come out in support of the local residents, committing to the protection of the environment and their rights throughout this process. The church’s statement highlighted the importance of preserving Theth’s natural landscape and traditions.

Tensions remain high, as occasional clashes continue between residents and law enforcement.
