The country’s Prime Minister, Edi Rama, promoted his newest book, “At the Moon’s Table”, this Thursday.

During his speech, the head of government said that his motivation to write the book was encouraged by some of his Muslim friends. He added that the evenings and the iftar table go beyond those who are fasting.

“This book is a collection of the iftar evenings that I have had the pleasure and privilege to organize in the function I hold, opening a tradition regarding my iftar table, which goes beyond the table of those who fast.

The iftar table goes beyond the fasting believers and is, in a way, a beautiful moment to bring together people who come not only from different paths in life, but also from different faiths.

It was the encouragement of some Muslim friends who fast that prompted me to compile these words into this book. Today I wanted the presentation to be modest. The book was ready for the Book Fair, but I did not give the green light because it would have drawn attention without merit, compared to all the other authors for whom the Fair is an important moment.

I have great respect and gratitude for the friends around me who practice this faith. I am grateful for this experience of iftar, which has enriched me. Beyond the slogan of religious coexistence, there is a treasure of cultures that come from religion and deserve care, respect and admiration.

They deserve to be seen beyond prejudice and stereotypes. It is a pleasure, and I feel fortunate that life has given me this opportunity,” Rama said.
