The President of the Air Traffic Controllers European Union’s Coordination, Volker Dick, said in an interview on Euronews Albania that the “critical situation” does not only affect the airport but the “entire nation”.

During the interview, he said that “we are dealing with an unnecessary escalation”.

Clarifying that he had taken into consideration his ties with the Albanian union, and controlled all available files, Dick reached the conclusion that the matter at hand has been stalling since 2014, but it did not have to “explode” at this point in time.

“I can only imagine that some elements, institutions, the government, or the ministry, are using this situation at a time when the country will be heading to the polls. I am sorry, but we’re not involved in politics. We are an organization with a professional staff, and it is in our line of work to take care of our profession, for human, social and professional rights”, concluded the president of ATCEUC, Volker Dick.
