The Albanian government has already approved the new rules for the beneficiaries of the baby bonus. In order to eliminate those who do not live in Albania from receiving this reward, the Council of Ministers has made a change in the decision, where it is submitted as a condition, staying in Albania for 180 days in the previous year for parents of newborn babies. This data will be obtained from the TIMS system.
Another element that is added is the benefit of this bonus from those foreigners who have settled in Albania as asylum seekers or refugees who decide that their child’s citizenship should be Albanian.
The decision states that the beneficiaries of the bonus are “parents with other citizenships, who are legal residents of the Republic of Albania, who have been granted refugee, supplementary protection or asylum seeker status by the Albanian state and decide to give to the baby Albanian citizenship, according to the law on Albanian citizenship, and register him as an Albanian citizen in the National Register of Civil Status”.
In September of this year, the decision related to the baby bonus was changed, aiming for the benefits to be for citizens living inside the country, since over the years, Albanian immigrants living abroad had also benefited from this legal space.
For the government this was a double benefit as they benefit from the schemes in the countries where they are deployed.
