Albania ranks first in terms of sustainability in the energy sector. The World Economic Forum has published the ranking of countries based on three pillars considered the most important for energy development. In the sustainability column, Albania is ranked first, ahead of well-known European countries such as France and Sweden.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, described this ranking as a result of the work and vision of the Albanian Government and Prime Minister Edi Rama in pursuing the goal of becoming a regional energy hub and a net energy exporter.

Such recognition, Balluku wrote in her post, motivates the government to continue its commitment toward new projects in this sector.

Her post reads:
“One of the most prestigious economic forums, the World Economic Forum, has published the country rankings regarding the three key pillars considered fundamental for a country’s energy development.

The World Economic Forum has ranked Albania first in the sustainability column, ahead of countries with decades of energy leadership such as Sweden, Switzerland, and France.

It is a source of pride to see the fruits of our team’s work recognized internationally. Proud of the Albanian government and the vision of Prime Minister Edi Rama to turn our country into a regional energy hub and a net exporter.

Such recognition motivates us to continue our commitment toward new projects in the energy sector, where today’s biggest challenge is to turn geopolitical risks into strategic opportunities.”
