The National Theater of Opera and Ballet starts the first edition of the Baroque Music Festival “AlBa”, already part of the theater’s artistic season.

Director Abigeila Voshtina shared on social networks the program of the first evening, which includes arias and duets from Neapolitan comic operas.

“Music with a variety of colors and a repertoire unknown to our audience, which will surely appreciate it,” wrote Voshtina on social networks.

This activity is carried out in collaboration with the Conservatory of Music “Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa” Potenza.

“Opera buffa” is a genre of opera, initially used as a description of Italian comic operas classified in various ways by their authors, such as musical comedy, comic drama, etc.

It was mainly associated with developments in Naples in the first half of the 18th century, from where their popularity spread to Rome and northern Italy. These operas were initially characterized by everyday settings, local dialects, and simple singing (basso buffo), with the main requirements being clear diction and ease in singing fast-paced verses.

The Baroque Music Festival “AlBa” will be a festival dedicated entirely to baroque music. After last year’s Jazz Festival, the National Theater of Opera and Ballet returns to collaboration with the Conservatory of Potenza, Italy.

Over the course of four months, there will be 10 different concerts by 10 groups performing famous and lesser-known ancient music, for an audience of all ages.
