Albania has improved its position in the fight against money laundering and terrorism. The Basel index, which annually reflects the risk and progress of global governments, rates Albania with 4.35 points.
With a scoring system from 0 to 10, where 10 indicates the highest level of risk, this year Albania is among the countries with low risk.
The assessment shows that Albania has significantly improved the ranking in a decade, moving away from grade 5 and above.
The progress achieved by Albania is the result of the measures taken, within the framework of fulfilling the recommendations of Moneyval, which occupies the main weight in this assessment with 65%.
With the points it has received, Albania has a better position than some European countries such as Italy, Holland, Hungary, Croatia and Bulgaria.
The Basel index evaluates 18 indicators in five areas; such as the legal framework, corruption, transparency, public responsibility and legal and political risks.
