The President of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, met today with the President of the International Republican Institute, Daniel Tëining and with Senator Dan Sullivan.
“The fight against corruption, the cleansing of politics from corrupt and incriminated politicians, free and fair elections, are the priorities of the DP” – emphasized Basha, while he also recognized the initiatives for vetting in politics and the opening of lists, so that citizens are given the opportunity to directly elect their deputy.
Basha mentioned corruption and emigration as the main problems in Albania. “Albania is among the countries with the highest number of asylum seekers”, – emphasized Basha, while highlighting the big problem of this phenomenon, the fact that according to him, in the group of those who migrate are mainly qualified young people who are looking for opportunities for a life which Albania does not offer because of corruption and state capture.
The Chairman of the Democratic Party has emphasized the support for Special Prosecutors Office and the commitment through legal initiatives in the Parliament to contribute to the fight against corruption, especially at the highest levels.
The attacks and pressures that politics is exerting on the justice system are considered unacceptable.
A special place in the discussion was put on the situation in the region and concerns about destabilizing tendencies, which was evident from the attack on the police on September 24 in Kosovo.
