Today at 17:00 p.m., the Democratic Party’s leadership will convene in a meeting, summoned by the current Chair, Lulzim Basha.
This meeting is expected to involve discussions that will eventually conclude with the members arriving at final decisions, according to DP’s Statute for the April 25th elections, regarding what the democrats have called an electoral massacre.
In addition, at 19:00 p.m., a meeting of the National Council will be taking place, which will conclude the Democratic Party’s summoning of its two main political bodies after the April 25th elections, during which it was unable to come to power.
The current situation in the party’s internal organizational structures is struck by a dualizing hostility, which has led to the establishment of a discernible schism within the party.
On the one side, are the group of exponents, which include Bujar Nishani, the leader of DP’s National Council, who are demanding Lulzim Basha to give his resignation, while on the other side stand the supporters of Basha, who claim that the elections were manipulated and thus there’s nothing that could come out of the resignation and replacement of Basha.
On the April 25th’s general elections, the Democrats were able to win 59 parliamentary seats, SP 74, SMI 4 and PSD 3.
