The largest opposition entity in Kosovo, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), has presented Bedri Hamza as a candidate for prime minister.

Hamza is currently the mayor of the municipality of South Mitrovica.

During a press conference, the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, said that the elections should be held as soon as possible, due to, as he said, misgovernance by the ruling party, Vetëvendosje, but also security concerns and “over all burdened and stagnant economy”.

“Kosovo needs a proven model of governance. For a government that does work, that keeps its word and that serves all citizens without distinction”, he said.

While presenting his party’s candidate for prime minister, Krasniqi said that Kosovo should have a personality with institutional experience at its head.

“This task requires a proven, experienced and dedicated civil servant to return Kosovo to the development tracks, a leader who has never wavered in his loyalty and commitment to our state. A leader who offers citizens predictability and security. Kosovo has such a personality”, said Krasniqi, referring to Bedri Hamza.
