After many years of waiting and being left in total oblivion, work has started on the construction of the Dukagjini road.
The project drawn up by the Albanian Development Fund, which is financed by the government with a value of 200 million Lek, has as its object the protection from landslides and the construction of works of art along this segment with a length of 17 km.
The project consists in the systematization, profiling of the road as well as the placement of culverts and retaining walls from Prekal Village to the entrance of Lotaj Village, as well as the restoration of existing works of art and their addition where necessary.
The road will have an overall width of 5.00 m, maintaining the axis of the existing road. The works are expected to be completed by the spring of next year.
During this year alone, 2 protests were held by residents for the construction of this road, while in the last 30 years, as a result of accidents on this road, more than 50 people have lost their lives.
This road axis, which has not been invested for years, has a strategic dimension for the development of tourism in the region of Shkodrë and Tropojë.
