One of the most famous conductors at the international level will come to Tirana to conduct a gala concert.
The gala on June 22nd is part of the “Open Balkan” initiative and is linked to the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra.
Zubin Mehta, now 87 years old but still actively engaged in artistic endeavors, will descend upon the Albanian capital along with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra.
This is the first time that the internationally renowned conductor visits Albania, but the Albanian audience knows him through his conducting at the Vienna Concert as well as his collaborations with the three tenors: Pavarotti, Domingo, and Carreras.
Zubin Mehta has become famous for his expressiveness on the podium and his interpretation of operatic repertoire.
He holds numerous titles. His career took off when he conducted the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 21, and he began to substitute for renowned conductors.
He became the youngest conductor ever to lead a philharmonic orchestra in North America. Since 1981, he has held the title of “conductor for life” from the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Titles such as “honorary conductor” have been bestowed upon Zubin Mehta by orchestras from all continents.
