Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha, during his speech at a press conference, spoke about the opposition’s plans to counter the depopulation of the country.
Berisha emphasized that the anti-depopulation package is the first step that must be taken to save Albania from becoming deserted.
He directed accusations at the government, stating that the country has never experienced such levels of depopulation.
“Naturally, this package is only the first necessary step to mark a turning point aimed at saving Albania from the complete desertification of its population.
Erasure, disappearance. The history of nations is a history of their birth, flourishing, but also their extinction. Albanians do not deserve to disappear.
Albanians deserve to thrive in their ancestral lands, from the Illyrian era until today. What is happening is the greatest demographic catastrophe in the history of our nation.
Never have Albanians experienced such depopulation—not from any occupation, not from any disease, not from any epidemic. This is the issue I wanted to bring to you, and the one we will defend in parliament,” Berisha stated.
