One day ahead of the nationwide protest announced for February 10, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has called on law enforcement forces to join the protesters.

Speaking during the Democratic Party’s weekly address, Berisha said that the police should, in his words, make a “historic decision” to stand alongside citizens.

“Tomorrow, I call on law enforcement forces to make a historic decision and join the protesters. Join the interests of your families, the future of Albania and Albanians,” Berisha declared.

The opposition leader used strong rhetoric against the government, urging citizens to participate massively in the protest.

“Join us to drive out this gang of looters. Join the missionaries who will remove this government, restore freedom, and return Albania to the path toward Europe,” he said.

Berisha described the February 10 protest as a “peaceful uprising,” stressing that its goal is victory and the country’s European integration.

“Everyone to Tirana for the peaceful uprising of victory, for Europe,” Berisha stated.

In his remarks, the Democratic Party leader also referred to a statement by the European Commission, expressing gratitude for what he described as its message.

“Gratitude to the European Commission for today’s statement telling the chief thief that justice can never be obstructed. Let us force the thief to go where he belongs. Tomorrow, all of Albania in Tirana,” Berisha concluded.
