The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a press conference this Monday where he focused on the publication of the McGonigal case report by the U.S. Department of Justice.

In his speech, Berisha emphasized that the McGonigal case continues to make international news and that Prime Minister Rama is implicated in this global espionage affair.

“I will return once again to this issue, which continues to make global headlines. It remains a matter of worldwide attention, in which the name of Edi Rama, the head of the criminal organization of the Albanian narco-state, is repeatedly and severely implicated. The world’s biggest media outlets have once again published some of the most striking and damaging headlines about the man who made Edi Rama proud through his friendship, Charles McGonigal.

Now, his connections, together with Dorian Duçka and Edi Rama—as an unregistered Chinese agent who exposed his country’s operations against China’s intelligence agencies, and the payments to Edi Rama’s advisor, Dorian Duçka—have come to light. In short, Edi Rama is deeply entangled, head to toe, in one of the greatest espionage and corruption scandals of our time.

The Inspector General’s report, at least the published part—since there is also a redacted section we cannot speak about—focuses mainly on his activities with the Chinese energy conglomerate and its foundation, along with Dorian Duçka and Edi Rama. Therefore, we are faced with a criminal activity that is now fully proven and documented against Edi Rama,” said Berisha.
