The former historic leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, warned the Albanian prime minister, Edi Rama that he will be faced with tough opposition.

Berisha added that Rama has been making any and all attempts to eliminate his political adversaries, through slanders and defamation.

“In parliament, I’ll be in faced with Edi Rama and I can guarantee him that he’ll be faced with an opposition that’ll be so tough, that he will pray to have the old opposition back,” said Berisha on Euronews Albania’s ‘NOW’, hosted by Erla Mehilli.

The former PM continued by saying that Rama is coming into Parliament as the “author of consecutive misfortunes and an anti-Albanian figure”.

In addition, Berisha claimed that if he had been the leader of the Democratic Party, he would’ve boycotted the elections, after the system of ‘patrons’ was leaked, calling it “an unacceptable scandal under all circumstances”.

During his interview, Berisha accused both Rama and Vucic of destabilizing the region.

According to Berisha, the ‘Open Balkans’ initiative is a destabilizing alliance that triggers ultra-nationalism in the Balkans.

Berisha concluded his remarks by saying that the opposition should give SP an ultimatum to adopt the new territorial reform.

“The territorial reform is vital for our country. The reform shouldn’t be enforced because the opposition says so, but the opposition should impose the reform on  Edi Rama. [the reform] should be one of the main ways for Rama to prove himself.
