24 hours after receiving the notification from the Ministry of Agriculture about the presence of the H5N1 virus, otherwise known as bird flu in Albania, Institute of Public Health experts have started monitoring the situation of people who take care of birds.
The head of the Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases Service at the Institute of Public Health, Silva Bino, states that there is no case of human infection.
Bino points out that the transmission of the disease from birds to humans is very low, but it still requires that sick birds be destroyed at the right time.
As for the population, Bino explains that the H5N1 virus does not pass from consuming infected poultry meat, especially when it is well cooked.
So the Ministry of Agriculture says that the situation is under monitoring and control, by the institutional chain for early detection and limitation of the spread of the H5N1 virus and that the restrictive and preventive measures will be in force until the end of the quarantine period.
