The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, has held a joint media conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his visit to Albania.

Blinken was asked during the joint conference with Prime Minister Rama also about the issue of Kosovo.

“When I started working in the White House, about 30 years ago, the challenge during President Clinton’s administration was the Balkan region, first Bosnia-Herzegovina and then Kosovo. Many of us have a history that goes deep and long in this matter. We have a notion that we can’t go back, we can’t have a repeat of what people lived in the 1990s.

We are committed to supporting all efforts to advance the integration of the countries of the Western Balkans with each other and with the Western Balkans, with each other and with Europe. As far as Kosovo and Serbia are concerned, the dialogue facilitated by the EU is the right and the only right path.

We are committed to doing whatever it takes to support both countries as they navigate this path. I also want to congratulate the role of Albania because it has been a force for regional stability, regional integration and regional progress. We know what the alternative is, because we have seen it, so we are determined to support the countries of the region to go on the path of dialogue facilitated by the EU”, said Antony Blinken.
