Prime Minister Edi Rama is in Brussels, where he took part in a special plenary session held at the European Parliament to honor the outgoing President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), Oliver Röpke.

In his address, Rama underlined the importance of dialogue and praised Röpke’s impact in strengthening bridges between European institutions and citizens.

“This is a moment to celebrate the work of an extraordinary man. Like a silent European superhero, your dedication has inspired your leadership at the helm of the European Economic and Social Committee. When you took office, Europe was in what could only be described as a storm. People tend to forget what we went through — the war in Ukraine, the pandemic, the economic challenges faced by countries, including Albania. It now feels like the Stone Age… but we must not forget that at that time we hadn’t even opened any negotiation chapters. And yet, through this turbulence and instability, you brought peace, even to skeptics like me. Isn’t that proof that miracles do happen?” Rama said.
