A brown bear was salvaged by a rescue team, in the village of Xhaferaj in Kukes, where he had been stuck in a trap for the past 3 days. The bear was found by a local resident, who made the call for help that was answered by several animal rights organizations in Albania and Kosovo, including employees of the Protected Sites Administration.
The bear was stuck in a difficult terrain, making the intervention mission to detangle him that more complicated, seeing that he had hurt himself while trying to get out of the trap.
After receiving medical attention, the bear was able to get back on its feet and start to move despite the fact that his wounds will remain an issue for a little bit more time.

The organizations for the protection of animals, have called on responsible institutions to carry out investigations into this case, as the set-up of traps with the goal of capturing wildlife is considered a criminal offence.
The brown bear (Ursus Acrtos) is a nationally and internationally endangered and protected species.
