Bulgarian MEP Angel Dzhambazki called Aleksandar Vučić “a dictator”. During a session of the European Parliament, Dzhambazki used harsh tones towards the Serbian President.
“Vučić’s Serbia is nothing more than a successor of the Yugoslavia once led by Tito and Milošević and deserves no recognition. Vučić is a de facto dictator with dubious alliances and he must be held responsible,” declared the MEP.
During the session in which the resolution for Serbia was presented, MEPs expressed concerns regarding the situation in the country. A group of Liberals, Social Democrats and Greens requested that the report included their “concerns on Aleksandar Vulin’s appointment as the Director of the Security Information Agency of Serbia, known for his anti-EU and pro-Kremlin stance and rhetoric”.
During the debate in the European Parliament, several MPs asked for Belgrade to have a clear stance on the EU integration, by supporting sanctions against Russia. Some MPs even accused Serbia of doing the opposite, that instead of adapting to EU positions in foreign policy, it is reducing it by protecting Russia.
