The ousting of former Prime Minister and co-founder of the Albanian Democratic Party from the parliamentary group stirred a debate between analysts Andi Bushati and Baton Haxhiu on tonight’s ‘Shock’.

According to Haxhiu, there is some kind of animosity within the part since Berisha ‘won’ the battle “against all those that tried to drive him out from the political scene”, referring to the 2013 electoral defeat.

‘Sali Berisha was not expelled from the Democratic Party, but the parliamentary group. I think, that all of them, including you, who were not able to overthrow this man, are somewhat jealous that this man, who at a moment in time seemed so heartless, won the battle against all of this that tried to remove him since 2013’, he said.

But Andi Bushati described the move as an act of “democratic crime”, since Berisha was voted by the people.

According to him, Basha’s arguments at the party’s presidency meeting were “unfounded” and lacked “common sense”.
